Who We Are?
We Put People Back to Work
The Center for Living & Learning is a reputable 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization which relies primarily on vehicle donations to fund our mission to aid the disadvantaged in training for, acquiring and holding stable employment. When you choose to donate a used car to us, you’ll be helping others help themselves.
Proceeds from car donations make it possible for us to offer our transition-to-work program and services. We offer paid apprenticeships and job and computer training to:
- Welfare to work participants
- Individuals in recovery
- Youth at risk
- Other disadvantaged individuals
Our organization is run completely by graduates of our apprenticeship program. Learn more about who we’ve helped and see how car donations put people back to work by visiting the Success Stories page.
Employment Assistance
Due to the large unemployment numbers, The Center for Living and Learning recently began providing job search training to individuals with barriers to employment who are also transitioning into independent living.
Although we’d like to offer paid apprenticeships to all who apply, we now assist all eligible individuals in seeking employment.
Diverse Charity Activities
When possible, we assist other charities*, particularly in times of disaster, with proceeds from car donations. These have included:
- Doctors Without Borders
- American Red Cross
- Boys and Girls Club of America
- Habitat For Humanity
- SPCA Louisiana Animal Rescue
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America
- Make A Wish Foundation
- Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America
- D.A.R.E. America
- Children of the Night
We not only make an impact locally, but we also strive to make a difference nationally, right here in the United States.
